History

The WALK begin In 1984.   Kathy Hasegawa, along with community advocates, founded the Walk for the Homeless as a way to raise public awareness and funds to support programs serving the homeless.  They brought together community, faith, and civic leaders to respond to what was becoming a very visible issue of homelessness on the streets of Worcester.  Perhaps a bit naively, it was envisioned that they would come together once to solve a problem, and then disband.  38 years later, the WALK for the Homeless has been a source of hope, reassurance, and community engagement for the Greater Worcester Community.

With your help, together we have raised over $2.5 million dollars for programs that provide quality shelter, housing stabilization, and food/nutritional programs.

Let us all keep the good work going, taking one step at a time.
