The Village at Cambridge Street is an apartment based family shelter program providing short-term housing, employment training, housing search and other educational programming and services to assist displaced families transition to self-sufficiency. The shelter has the capacity to serve up to 45 homeless families at any given time. Families reside in an apartment either on their own or with another family and receive intensive services to assist them in successful employment and housing placement.

The Village opened its doors on February 17, 2004 and in its first two years of operation successfully moved 95 families into permanent housing. The Village assisted in eliminating the practice of housing families in emergency hotel and motel, at a great savings to the taxpayers of the Commonwealth and to the great benefit of families in transition.

The Village at Cambridge Street is funded through the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance and families must be directly referred by DTA. If you or a family that you know are homeless, please contact the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance Housing Counseling Program at (508) 752-5519 x 171.
