"I think that this program helps me not only set my goals but complete them… I've learned skills that will further my career choice."
--  POWER participant pursuing a career as an EMT

POWER (Personal Opportunities for Work, Education and Renewal) is an education and workforce development program designed specifically for homeless families. POWER is a unique program, filling a gap in the path towards self-sufficiency and adopting a long term model (18 months) in order to transform the lives of participants through stabilization services.

Our focus is on strengthening education and job skills by building upon the commitment and motivation of participants. We develop individualized plans for each participant based on their own career goals.  This is accomplished through comprehensive case management and mentorship; referrals to support services; and by creating opportunities to expand professional experience.

P.O.W.E.R. is made possible through support from the United Way and the Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts. We have partnered with numerous organizations within Worcester and beyond, including:

  • Dress for Success, Catholic Charities
  • Worcester Community Connections Coalition
  • One Family Scholars
  • Main South CDC
  • Quinsigamond Community College

It is with the support of these agencies and many more that we are able to work with individuals to achieve their goals.

"POWER has already provided me with many links for employment."
